Presley and Grant

TThe two cousins, just a few weeks apart, have become such good friends.  It is so sweet, and I appreciate so much, how my mom and Aunt Chris make such an effort to get them together.  They say it reminds them of Travis and I when we were young.  They now know each other's names and ask to play with each other.  They giggle and talk to each other and get along so well.  This last weekend, the grandmas took them to the pumpkin patch.  They LOVED it. Presley kept telling us the story about playing tug a war with Grant in her usual babble talk sort of way.  :)

What's daddy's name?

This evening, Leif asked Presley if she knew what his name was?  She looked at him and hesitated momentarily.  Then she said, "Weef".............no, "Honey."  We laughed so hard.  She is so damn smart!

When I am upstairs and call to Leif who is working downstairs, I usually yell "Honey?"  Presley always copies me and also yells "Honey?"  So, by default, Leif's name has been changed to "Honey."  I love it!

Pumpkin Patch 2015

We decided to go to the smaller pumpkin patch this year considering that Skyler had already been to the big one as a field trip and Liam would much prefer to play with his friends in the neighborhood these days rather than go with his family on an excursion (sniff sniff).  Although not as extravagant as in past years, we did have a great time!

After Presley went to sleep, we carved our pumpkins.  It is still too hard for the kiddos to push the knife through the pumpkin safely so we helped with that part, but they LOVED pulling out the insides.  Liam chose a white pumpkin this year and Presley chose one with warts.  Skyler chose the biggest one she could carry (that's the rule).

And of course, we had hot chocolate and spiced cider.

On a related note, here are some pictures from Skyler's pumpkin patch field trip.  Thank you grandma for going with!  I think that's the 4h or 5th pumpkin patch trip she has been on!  LOL.

Leif's 40th Birthday Heaven (and the behind the scenes snapshot)

When I asked Leif what he wanted to do for his 40th, he said he wanted to surf. He didn't want to go on a vacation. He wanted to go on an adventure - but with the luxuries of a vacation. We found the perfect spot thanks to Mike who had been there before. And so, with the gracious assistance of Ted and Stephanie, who watched over our precious babies for a whole week, we set flight (first class mind you), to Mazatlan. 40 miles north of the city is an 8 room "bungalow" that sits in front of a perfect break - steady, long, gentle, shoulder high. Our dear friends, the best kind that never say no to vacations, Monica and Jer joined us. The boys would wake up early and surf from sun up to 10:30 and then come in for breakfast. I even joined them most days around 8am and dos some surfing of my own!  Leif was in HEAVEN. It was everything and more that he had hoped for. He picked up surfing just where he left off 7 years ago and we enjoyed having uninterrupted time together - something that is almost non-existent during this season of our lives. My favorite part was sitting down and having an entire meal together.  Actually conversing from start to finish. Having conversations that lasted more than 23 seconds. It was amazing!!!  And Leif surfed his heart out! He was so happy it was contagious!

Back at home Ted and Stephanie experienced our every day existence which was an eye opener for all of us. I wrote down the schedule on paper before we left and took it to Leif and said "GOOD GOD!!!! How do we manage this!!!?!?  It's absolutely insane!!!"  But Ted and Stephanie managed beautifully and I do appreciated the honesty with their struggles and successes!  Having a week away from the insanity was such a blessing for our marriage and we owe them so much gratitude for it!

The only problem is that Leif is now convinced that he needs this break annually!  Anyone ready to sign up for another week??  Lol.

American Girl

Skyler and I finished reading her American Girl doll book which was a condition of her getting her first doll. I would be lying if I said it was an enjoyable experience from my standpoint - the store is excessive, the sales woman talked baby talk the whole time and the prices were outrageous. But the excitement on Skyler's face and in her eyes as she chaotically bounced through the store looking at every last thing made it worth it. Grandma bought the outfits (more expensive than the back to school outfits I bought Skyler) and the glasses and I bought the doll, the special brush and the hair ties. Good grief. But look at her darling face as walked out....

Liam's 8th Birthday

6 boys, 1 cabin, 2 sisters, 3 grandparents and 2 parents made Liam's birthday very special this year despite rainy weather. It didn't stop any of us however and, wild and crazy and chaotic and exhausting as it was...Liam had a great birthday.

Best present of the year?  Leif got him a quarter pipe to skateboard on in our garage (and I lost my parking spot!)

My super sweet girls

God help me to raise these girls so that there relationship stays the way it is in this exact moment...

Leif's 40th, Part 1

The first celebration of Leif's 40th started with a boat ride...ok, a boat cruise to Herron Island with Jer and Monica. We met up with our dearest friends - the burrows, pratts, ingersolls and winters for a weekend of shenanigans. It was non-stop laughs the whole weekend - opera singing, clamming, drinking, eating, and tubing. I think the adults had more fun than the kids but the kids were in heaven as well. It was such a tribute to Leif who has such wonderful friends in his life. And family too!  Mike, Phillip and Kayla came out as well!

Presley turns 2

This kills me!  My baby turned two today. How cliche but WHERE DID THE TIME GO?  Happy birthday my sweet, joy filled, strong willed, Presley. You are the HOPE that fills our family and this world!

For context, here is Liam and Skyler on their two year old birthdays:
