Seahawks in San Diego

I hesitated to put "Seahawks" in the title of this post because the game was so painful to watch, but they are the reason I planned this trip for Leif's birthday and I guess they can have a bad day. They let the 12than down but all in all we had a great trip. I am not going to lie. I love my kids so much it hurts and I missed them tremendously, but having two nights away was a blessing. Traveling to SD could not have been easier despite the 2.5 hour layover in LA. We had dinner and drinks and snacks and more drinks and desert and drinks and before we knew it, we were in San Diego. Leif and I needed the time together and I cherished having his full attention. We stayed at a beautiful hotel in Mission Beach and spent Monday sitting by the pool before we left. Saturday was a blast as we hung out with our best friends and had a weekend of excess. I guess that's ok every once in a while...

Comments that make my heart sing...

Liam to mommy after we played "hit the bottle with a rock" on the beach at Herron Island for 5 minutes and he hit it 11 times and me once:  "I have an idea mom...I will move the stick behind the bottle and try to hit that so it will be a little more challenging for me but you can still try to hit the bottle."

Skyler to Liam when making bead designs tonight: "Wow Liam...that's looking really great!"

Liam to Skyler after she asked if he loved Presley more: "No Skyler...I love you both the same."

Plaza Garcia

Nowhere like Plaza Garcia after a long day when all I need is happy kids and a big glass of wine. Leif was out with his colleagues who are in town for the week so what the heck...we went out too!

Presley really enjoyed the limes!

Presley's Turns One!

Yep...BIG GIRL now.  She is definitely one of the kids.  She is everything I wanted and having these three perfect babies proves that dreams do come true.  I imagined the three of them and now they are here.  So meant to be.  Thank you God.  Thank you Leif.  And thank you Presley for the hope and love you have given back to our family.

Skyler's Tooth

Poor little Skyler (or, as her dentist likes to say, "lucky Skyler!") had an extra tooth growing in with her two front adult teeth!  We discovered it about a year ago when the dentist took full xrays of her teeth.  Unbelievable!  Poor, brave Skyler went in last week to get it pulled out.  It had not yet broken through her gums as she has not even lost her baby teeth yet, but they said it needed to come out as it would otherwise affect her two regular ones.  She was so brave.  So good.  So perfect through the whole ordeal.  They gave her a "cocktail" when she first came in that started to hit after about 10 minutes.  The little cutie's head started to get heavy and sort of roll around and she giggled that she felt dizzy.  They took her back to the operating room, put her under, and we sat...completely stressed out for the next 30 minutes.  When they let us back to see her, she was still under but with gauze all around her gums.  When she woke up she was incoherent for about an hour, saying silly things like "all I see are razzzberries!"  She says she was trying to take her socks off and that is why she kept reaching in front of her.  Poor little thing.  We couldn't help but laugh but i think most of our giggles were that the procedure had gone smoothly and she was ok (and awake!).  She developed an infection throughout the next week and had to go back in to get the roof of her mouth drained.  For her, that was the hardest and most painful part.  But, yet again...she was calm, cool and collected..  She amazes me.

Mariners Game

This was a definite highlight of the Summer.  We had been trying to plan a family Mariners night all summer and it finally worked out.  We went in with low expectations, thinking the kids would probably last until the 6th inning if we were lucky.  But not these kids!  They lasted the whole game.  Hot dogs, cokes, cotton candy and a beautiful August night.  I like the game of baseball but I think I like the experience of baseball games more!  The highlight was seeing Liam be carefree and so joyful.  He seemed so relaxed and happy and loved doing the wave, clapping to the Mariners beat and holding up his Mariners foam #1!  We may have spent a fortune at the team shop but why not!? Big shout out to grandma who stayed home with Presley so we could take the kiddos!

Soccer Camp

Liam has been to lacrosse camp and football camp this year so now it was Skyler's chance to shine!  Leif brought her home new shoes, shorts, shin guards and a head band after his morning work out and she was psyched. Both kids did half day Sounders camp all week and even got to meet Clint Dempsey...or so they say!

Sharing the island with our best friends

Since we made the commitment to buy my mom's house at Herron Island, it has completely reinvigorated us to experience Herron Island.  We took our best friends out last weekend - the Ingersolls and the Burrows.  What a fabulous time we had!

Lacrosse Camp

Somebody pump the breaks!  Since when did this little guy grow up??

It was the longest camp of the summer - an all day camp - and it was HOT!  He seemed to enjoy it and certainly wanted all the equipment.  I think he liked wearing the pads the most!
