Wedding Fun

The five of us and grandma got to go to our old nanny's wedding in Seattle this past weekend and we sure had a great time. Lisa was a wonderful blessing in the kids' life for a short time and Skyler especially had a great time watching a "real wedding!"  Skyler and Leif danced the night away. ;)

Sun kissed...or should I say sun smacked!

To Erica's defense...Skyler (the 5 yr old) TOLD HER that she had already put sunscreen on herself!  If it wasn't for the article that came out recently saying that the sun is not as bad as we once thought it was, I would lose sleep over this one.  (ok..who are we kidding...I lost sleep over this)

Chani's Wedding

We flew down on Thursday night - first time on a plane with all three kids.  They did awesome.  I absolutely LOVE traveling with our family...feels like a crazy adventure every time and I never know who is going to throw up on who (though given the history, chances are dad will be the receiver!).  This time everyone was healthy, at least for the flight.  Skyler ran a slight fever while we were there (Liam and Presley had been sick leading in to the trip) but she was a trooper and did not let it slow her down much.  We stayed at some friends of Alan and Anita's which was great in terms of having our own space (for free nonetheless).  We got into a routine of going to breakfast in the morning, then home for Presley's nap (as the kids played down at the water hole) and then over to Alan and Anita's to help as much as we could with three kids in tow!  The wedding celebration was SO BEAUTIFUL - in the back yard of a neighbor's that had done an absolutely amazing job.  Plus, it was so cool to see so much of my family in one place...felt a bit like a family reunion.  Chani and Brendan looked full of joy and hope and I am so glad we were able to make the trip down to be part of the celebration.  Plus, little Presley got to meet her cousin Naya who is just a month and a half younger.

Nap time

Daddy's new deck is the perfect place for a nap...  especially after a long 4th of July weekend...

July 4th - Herron Island Fun

Once again, I think the pictures tell the story the best but we had a great Herron Island 4th of July complete with boat rides, Seahawks parades, fun runs (the kids both took first in their age group and I might have pushed Skyler to near tears), and quality family time with Keith and Mary Ellen and Sean, Yuko, Aunt Chris and Grant.  It was a bit crowded in the house so Leif and I and the kids started out in tents on the deck.  We have everyone on social media fooled with the tent picture about - they think we are AMAZING that we could camp with all three but the truth of the matter is that Presley slept inside in Grandma's room and Skyler got up in the middle of the night, unzipped the tent, and said "I'm freezing...I'm going to get in bed with grandma!"  LOL.  Liam suck it out for the night though and we captured the picture in the morning.  So much fun.

Baby bath time

Consistent with the other two, her favorite time is bath time!

Ukelele Camp

Now here is a story that perfectly depicts my mother, whom I love and cherish and find absolutely hysterical (and sometimes quite insane).  She told me about this ukelele camp taught by a native hawaiian who was also a fairly well known musician in Seattle.  She was dying to take Liam.  Liam was game and so they packed up and went.  About half way through the week, we started talking about the camp in more depth...who else is there...where exactly is it...how did she find out about it.  I know, you would think I would have asked these questions earlier but quite honestly, everything right now is totally last minute with us.  As it turns out, the camp is for multi-racial families.  She found out about it from my aunt Chris who subscribes to a newsletter since Grant is now in a multi-racial family.  Oh...and by the way...it is in South Seattle, just off Rainier Blvd.  "You do realize mom, that we are not a multi-racial family, right?"  "Well of course, but they LOVE Liam and I am sure its fine."  Yep...that's my mom.  So, after the initial freak out and some conversations with co-workers to make sure the Rainier Community Center was safe, we had a good laugh about it.  Did I mention that the teachers are convinced Liam is native american??

Daddy's deck project continues...

We had talked about wanting wire railing for a long time.  Then one slow afternoon at lunch time, Leif was sitting on the deck and decided to start kicking out all the previous railings.  Despite one nail straight to his toe and a few weeks of being paranoid about the kids falling off a railless deck, he finished it and it is beautiful.   We may not have the modern chic house we dream about but we do what we can and you won't find us complaining!

Liam's last day of Kindergarten

Liam and Carsen said goodbye to Kindergarten as they disembarked from the bus (old hat) too cool for school.  Vanessa and I took them to Plaza Garcia to celebrate.  Such little cuties.  I feel so proud of my first born as he has come such a long way and has endured and thrived through a full year of elementary school!  Congratulations my sweet boy!

Dancing girls...

The girls in this family LOVE to dance.  And daddy loves to dance with his two baby girls because, according to him, they actually dance with him (as opposed to dancing with their friends).  Enjoy it while you can my husband!
