Our own little Alarm Clock....

Our power went out last night for 3 hours.
Tim, Aly and their little one, Blake, came over for a candle light dinner. Blake and Liam play so well together - their favorite was playing "chase" all over the house and screaming. They dance too...it is ridiculously cute! Skyler was, as usual, easy as pie, until....
Let me premise this story on the fact that Skyler has been sleeping from 7pm until 4am. Its really not that big of a deal, because we just feed her a couple ounces of milk and she goes right back down.
Last night though, she woke up at 12:30. Leif and I were instantly annoyed because if she is going to wake up at 12:30, it most likely means another wake up at 4am. That makes for very interrupted sleep. We considered letting her "cry it out" but that just was not working. Finally, we gave in and fed her and she eventually went down. We were up for about an hour. Then, at 3:45, she was up again! Instantly frustrated, I went in and tried to pacify her. However, she was bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready to face the day and kick butt. Hence the picture...WIDE AWAKE.
Leif was in denial and I was ready to go down stairs to get some sleep and just let her cry it out when I realized I was not at all tired and it was getting light out.
You guessed it....we forgot to turn our clock ahead when the power came back on. Thus, it was really 3:30 when she woke the first time and 6:45 when she woke the second time....just like she usually does. We felt bad for being irritated but little Skyler did not seem to mind...she was the only one who knew what was going on!

Bath Time Fun!

Even with two of them, bath time is still a fun time of the night. I usually bathe Skyler while Leif bathe's Liam but tonight, they went in the same tub! Skyler gave Liam her usual "you are crazy" look while Liam put bubbles all over the both of them. He continues to be so sweet to her, not showing any signs of jealousy. She watches him like a hawk - as though she is trying to understand what all the commotion is about.

Two Kids - Six Shots

Well, it can't get much harder than today's visit to the doctor. We had Skyler's 4 month check up (which was almost 3 weeks late) and Liam's 2 year old check up (which was almost a month late). They both checked out perfectly - percentile's below. And, really, looking back at this blog and seeing what we went through at Liam's 4 month check up, things could have been much worse! Whereas, Liam cried (no, SCREAMED) for 45 minutes, Skyler cried for about 5 minutes. I had Grandma Mum with me which was so nice - I needed the moral support. She took Skyler out after her shots to calm her down and feed her. Liam did awesome. So much harder now that he is so aware of pain. He had to get 3 shots as well, including the flu shot. I had some Trader Joes candy in my bag for afterwards and he cried for only a few minutes as well.

It was fun to compare Liam and Skyler. I posted Liam's numbers at 4 months old in parenthesis next to Skye's.
SKYLER
Height: 24.5 inches; 50% (Liam: 26.5; 95%)
Weight: 14 lbs 13 ounces; 75% (Liam: 16 lbs 12 ounces; 95%)
Head Size: 10.25 inches; 50% (Liam: 97%)
LIAM
Height 35.75 inches; 90%
Weight: 29 lbs 7 ounces; 70%
Head Size: 20.5; 97%

Blurry pictures!

I took these from Leif's phone this morning so they are not the greatest quality. However, Skyler is changing so fast, I had to post them! She is so SWEET. I wish I could come up with a better word to describe her but that is just it - it's the perfect word for her. She is so smiley and has that same wide mouthed smile that Liam has always had. She looks into your eyes with such love it makes the rest of the world disappear. It sounds so cliche but I am honestly in absolute heaven just sitting with her and smiling. Sometimes, when she falls asleep in my arms, I just sit and watch her. She is so easy too. Goes to sleep at night without a fight and naps no problem in her crib. How did I get so lucky to have two easy children??

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE JENSEN BOYS!!!

We just had the most fun filled weekend!!! It started out Friday night with our good friends over at our house for flank steak and beers to celebrate Leif's birthday. How good it must feel to be turning 34 and be in the best shape of his life! Saturday morning started out with Cross fit where Liam learned to do push ups and burpees with his dad. Skyler continues to be the easiest baby in the world as she sat quietly in the corner and watched us suffer. It was a super hard work out but a great way to start the day. Ted and Stephanie arrived around 1pm and our date began. 8 hours later, after massages, wine, shopping and dinner, we came home to our sleeping beauties. Skyler was sweet enough to let us sleep in until 6:30 and Liam's birthday festivities started at 8, when the birthday boy woke up. I am pretty sure it was the best day of his life. Train tables, basket ball hoops, the coolest guitar ever, talking elmos, cutting boards and knives (kids knives), hotweels, yellow cake with chocolate ice cream....FORGET ABOUT IT. Suffice to say, we put him to bed at 8pm and he sang happy birthday to himself until 10:30 when he finally calmed down enough to go to sleep. Now he is two, and its like he is all grown up. I wish I could slow down time but at the same time, I can't wait for his next developments. He is SO fun!

Herron Island Grandparents!

We really do feel blessed to be able to go out to Herron Island and have our children spend so much time with my mom, David, Ted and Stephanie. It has certainly made it easier to have two kids under two!

Laughing Girl

I could watch this over and over and over and never tire of such a beautiful laugh!

Mom and Dad get Fancy

Leif and I went to the Hope Gala tonight while Grandma Mum Mum watched the kids!
